IV Refresher Course
A Research Update, Emergency Procedures Review, and Practical Skills Exploration
When is the last time you took an IV Course?

Maybe you have been practicing IV therapy for years, or months.

You may feel:
  • Like your clinical skills are fantastic
  • Like accessing veins are not a problem
  • Confident in the formulas you have been using to help your patients feel better.
But are you up to date on the new and recent guidelines around infusion nursing standards?

You don’t need another IV formula

You need a research update so you can confidently communicate
to patients as well as be prepared for any emergencies that may occur.
When is the last time you looked at the research?
Has a patient asked you for the research about a specific condition and using IV therapy and your PubMed search had minimal results? Me too. The truth is, besides the research on vitamin C and cancer, there isn’t much out there.

How do we navigate this with patients?
Most IV courses are condition specific
You are either learning how to access the veins or how to support your cancer patients through IV therapy.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could be updated on best practice guidelines,
emergency procedures and the research, all at once?

Research shows refresher courses build long term memory and helps participants remember important but seldom-used information.

INTRODUCING

Dr. Ashley Chauvin, ND

I’ve been practicing IV therapy since I graduated over a decade ago. I worked at a high volume centre where we collected safety data, did a lot of multivitamin infusions (1000 per year) and were the hub of teaching basic IV skills.

It was during this time that I realized that my colleagues needed more support than their typical IV certification courses. People were calling me out of the blue (some of them I’d never even met before) to ask about how to keep up to date on standards of our regulatory board, and patient expectations.

When I experienced my first adverse reaction in IV therapy, I realized I hadn’t reviewed my emergency procedures since I got my IV certificate (despite always being up to date on my CE credits).

I became a member of the infusion nursing society to stay on top of the best practice and emergency protocols. I was a teaching assistant for IV therapy courses to gain confidence in technique and compounding skills. I became a Peer and Practice Assessor to learn how to properly document consent discussions and treatments. I created templates to make my charting more efficient.

In short, I did everything I could to increase confidence and efficiency in my IV practice.

I’m ready to hand it all to you in this one day course.

Imagine if:

  • You had the best practice techniques for trouble shooting
  • You had information available for special populations
  • You were up to date with the standards to improve patient safety outcomes

TESTIMONIALS

TESTIMONIAL

Ashley is one of the best IV practitioners that I have worked with over the years. She’s well researched. Her IV skills are impeccable and she always goes above and beyond for our IV patients. I can’t wait to learn all she has to teach during this IV course
- Dr. Moira Kwok ND
I had the honour of working alongside Ashley for many years as a new ND, where she played a key role in my IV therapy education. Her attention to detail, efficiency, and patience were always palpable within her IV training, but it was her compassion and continual desire for self-improvement and better outcomes for patients that made her a natural leader while elevating the skills and work ethic of everyone around her simultaneously. I am very grateful to call Ashley a mentor and teacher.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I am new to the world of IV. Should I take this course?
This course is for anyone who has taken the basic certification. Whether you have been practicing IVs for 1 year or 10 years, this course is for you
Is this Approved for CE Credits?
Yes, this course has been approved for 6 IVIT credits with CONO (Ontario) and 1.75 Category F credits with CNPBC. CE packages are available to apply on your own outside of these jurisdictions
I am great at IVs. Why do I need to take a refresher course?
Research shows refresher courses build long term memory and helps participants remember important but seldom-used information. Especially for information we rarely have to recall (like how much epinephrine or oxygen you need to give in an emergency). A refresher course reduces the chances of mistakes and builds confidence for those that have taken a break or have  reduced hours. It also not only keeps us up to date on industry guidelines, but helps us identify learning gaps- no one is perfect!
What is your Refund Policy?
We do not offer refunds to our digital courses.
