I felt very out of place amongst my classmates on the topic of nutrition during my naturopathic training. I almost accepted a position in culinary school instead of naturopathic school. Good food was core to my person. But, in naturopathic school the focus was on “bad” foods, cleanses, and elimination of what people shouldn’t eat. For the most part,
I kept quiet about my apprehensions, put my head down and invested in my culinary skills. It helped me manage my school stress too!
After graduation, I was eager to incorporate nutrition into my practice. But after many conversations about food, I realized the following trends:
